laundry-roomThe laundry-room is often used as a multi-purpose room for the house. 
People will often have a deep sink where laundry can be pre-soaked or buckets can be filled for scrubbing floors. Many times the laundry room is entered from the garage, and so it's a nice place to leave school work, boots, coats, etc. so they don't clutter up the house. That way you can find them when it's time to do homework or when it's time to leave for school etc.
Locker Storage
The pictures to the left shows our daughter's personally designed children's coat and shoe storage. It includes a cupboard or locker for each child with a drawer below for school work or other items. There is also storage above the locker for seasonal things to be stored.
Drawers under Lockers
You'll notice the little ledge is just wide enough for the children to sit down and take off their boots or shoes which can be stored in the locker or drawer. The drawers could be used for homework, shoes or boots, gloves and hats, or whatever you want to put in them. To the right of the lockers is a desk area which is used for a computer at my daughters home, however it could be a sewing center or even a craft area. It could even be used to simply fold the clothes as they come out of the dryer.
